Ladies: Summer is coming! This is the time of the year when people wear less and less- the thick winter clothing is gone. But: All the excess fat that could be hidden under clothes is now in public display. It's now time for significant weight loss- and many women over 40 struggles with that.
Fat rolling over tight summer jeans is unattractive, and a heavy figure in a bathing suit doesn't really make heads turn either. In this short article I'd like to give your some ideas on how to lose weight fast, without expensive and potentially harmful pills or meds, only using natural, healthy weight loss.
The first thing to remember is: What keeps you on any weight loss program is your motivation and your support system. Your motivation is critical, and you need to be 100% clear about what it is. When you are on any kind of weight loss program, you always need to remind yourself why you are doing it. Review your motivation daily, it has to be on top of your mind all the time. A good weight loss program will help you with that.
Your support system or group is equally important. You need to have everything in place to succeed. If you want to work out at home, get the equipment. If you want to jog, get good shoes in a reliable store. And: Get some friends to join you; you'll keep each other motivated. This is a key element for successful weight loss programs for women over 40. Block everybody telling you: "You don't need this"- you need to stay on your own path.
The next thing is: Your eating habits. You daily nutrition will make you lose or gain weight like nothing else. You probably know already a lot about healthy eating. Don't make it complicated though- simple measures like omitting all starchy foods (bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, etc.) and substituting them with low calorie vegetables like broccoli, spinach or cauliflower can reduce your calorie consumption at several hundred calories a day. And you know that breading, frying or generally: all cooking methods requiring more than a table spoon of oil are not good for you.
The last thing to get into place is a regular exercise program. Emphasis is on "regular". Get your body moving 6 days a week doing different kinds of exercise every day. Don't get your body used to a certain exercise routine, you need variation in your program to have maximum effect. Include strength training, cardio and flexibility training- for example 2 days per week strength training, 2 days per week cardio, 2 days per week Yoga.
Many women over 40 do not want to go to a gym- so a weight loss program requiring joining a gym is out of question. But you can do a lot at home, and a brisk walk with a friend is already a step in the right direction.
And don't forget: stress reduces your chances to lose weight permanently. Have enough relaxation periods. Most women over 40 have a busy life- you might have to slow down a bit and take care of yourself first before taking care of others. Your weight loss program should support you in finding out how to reduce your stress level.
